The B&B Toson d'Oro was born from the idea and passion of Ombretta and Bruno, who have been able to finely restructure an elegant residence within the walls of the historic center of Sabbioneta.
Sabbioneta is considered the "Ideal City" of the Renaissance, founded by Duke Vespasiano Gonzaga in the 16th century and which, together with Mantua, entered in 2008 in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The aesthetic taste and the search for detail have made possible to blend the ancient elements with the modern ones, making the most of every single room.
B&B Toson d'Oro consists of two rooms, Giulia and Isabella, and a suite, Vespasiano.

WHY "TOSON D'ORO"
​
The "Toson d'Oro" represents the most prestigious imperial award conferred to Duke Vespasiano Gonzaga in 1585 on the merits of loyalty, obedience and gratitude from Emperor Philip II of Spain.
It represents the most important recognition of the Emperor to his childhood companion Vespasiano, who then built his "Ideal City" according to the canons of the 16th century and which still represents the important legacy of the Duke.
The ram fleece is the symbol of this honor, a few grams of gold but of inestimable historical and moral value.
The Golden Fleece is also the symbol chosen for the Bed & Breakfast as the ideal continuity between the Duke's thought and the modern way of enjoying his city.

Town Walls
Thanks to skilled engineers and expert architects, in the second half of the sixteenth century Vespasiano Gonzaga succeeded in creating an irregular hexagon-shaped wall with six wedge-shaped bastions designed by Girolamo Cattaneo and Bernardino Panizzari from Piacenza.
Olympic Theatre
It was the first theater in Italy conceived and designed to have a life of its own and not be a part of an existing building. It is considered the architectural masterpiece of Vincenzo Scamozzi, who followed the design and construction from 1588 to 1590.
Galleria degli Antichi
Deeply wanted by Vespasiano Gonzaga to house his collectibles, the "Galleria degli Antichi" is a vast corridor built on one side of the Doge's Palace, where stunning fresco decorations can be admired.
Doge's Palace
Among the oldest buildings in the city, the Doge's Palace is a large sixteenth-century two-storey complex that preserves splendid ceilings of inlaid wood and gold.
Palazzo Giardino
Private residence and place of the duke's otium, Palazzo Giardino collects a cycle of frescoes of great value, dedicated to the political and military virtues, made by Bernardino Campi.
UNESCO cycle route
The route, which connects Sabbioneta and Mantua, winds on low-traffic roads, through the wetlands of the Parco Oglio Sud, allowing you to discover unexplored environments and better appreciate the cultural landscape characteristics of the territory.

Villa Pasquali
The small village of Villa Pasquali is dominated by the great parish of Sant'Antonio Abate, one of the jewels of the Mantuan Baroque, work of Antonio Bibiena. Latin cross plan, pierced and arabesque domes, side chapels, rich decorations, represent a splendid surprise for the visitor.
Oglio Regional Natural Park
The Oglio Regional Natural Park includes a total of 16 municipalities: Sabbioneta is touched by the southern part of the Oglio Park, which represents an oasis of over 12 thousand hectares extended to the Mella River, at the confluence with Po river. The "Riserva delle Bine" is home to over 800 species of animals.
Colorno
Not far from Parma, Colorno is one of the most beautiful villages in all of Emilia Romagna and its history has its roots in medieval times. Here you will discover the Italian "Versailles" of the Dukes of Parma: the "Reggia di Colorno", an elegant and monumental architectural structure, with over 400 halls and courtyards.
Mantova
Mantua boasts some uniqueness and has been the setting for stories that make it extraordinary and different from all other art cities. Cremona is also defined as the city of the 3 T's: Torrazzo, one of the highest bell towers in the world and symbol of the city; Torrone, a typical sweet created here 500 years ago and Tognazzi, the great actor born in Cremona.
